SonicFill 2 Adaption

SonicFill’s composite incorporates a highly-filled proprietary resin with special modifiers that react to sonic energy. As sonic energy is applied through the handpiece, the modifier causes the viscosity to drop (up to 84%), increasing the flowability of the composite, enabling quick placement and precise adaptation to the cavity walls. When the sonic energy is stopped, the composite returns to a more viscous, non-slumping state that is perfect for carving and contouring.

Quick placement, precise adaptation, easy handling

A real clinical case - Dr. Abdi Sameni - University of Southern California.

This means the composite adapts perfectly to cavity walls, causing no voids, no gaps, and increasing the long term success of your restorations!

Less sensitivity to ambient light also means 35% more working time than the original version of SonicFill.

Marginal Integrity & Shrinkage Stress

SonicFill 2 Marginal Integrity and Shrinkage Stress

SonicFill 2 has lower shrinkage stress than other bulk fill or conventional composites, to help ensure marginal integrity and reduce post-operative sensitivity.

Depth of Cure

SonicFill 2 Marginal Integrity and Shrinkage Stress

SonicFill 2 uses refractive index matching and a more efficient curing mechanism to allow polymerisation depths up to 5mm, while still retaining enough opacity to produce a good aesthetic result.

Beautiful, long lasting restorations

SonicFill2 - Wear

SonicFill 2 uses a new nano-scale zirconium oxide filler system, which provides excellent strength, polish, wear resistance and other important mechanical properties to ensure great looking restorations that will last.

Something both you and your patients will appreciate.

Other Features

SonicFill2 - Wear

  • Less sensitivity to ambient light to provide dentists with 35% more working time than the original version of SonicFill.
  • Good radiopacity to be easily distinguished from tooth structure on radiographs.

Exploring the aesthetic potential of SonicFill

Aesthetic fillings are frequently requested by patients nowadays, not only in the anterior but also in the posterior arch. Meanwhile, clinical substitution of old amalgam fillings due to the recurrence of caries [...], is a subject that is regularly discussed.

Bulk filling versus layering technique: what has changed?

When placed in optimal conditions, and in low caries risk patients, composite restorations have demonstrated comparable or even better performance (10-12 years) to that of dental amalgam (Opdam et al. 2010).

Superiority of SonicFill™ in molar restoration applications

SonicFill™ has been documented in clinical reports in foreign countries, where it has already been marketed, with very good long term clinical results.

Aesthetic Direct Restoration with SonicFill™ System

Kerr has introduced a material that is delivered by means of a sonic activated handpiece. SonicFill™ reduces viscosity and enables perfect adaption to the cavity walls.

Reconstitution of the non-vital tooth: original use of a Sonicfill™ System

The adhesive restoration of non-vital teeth is not simply one method, but rather a response to questions, obstacles and failures with which dentists are confronted.

"Using and teaching SonicFill is fun. We now have a system which uses modern technology and the physical properties of resin composites to bulk fill teeth with excellent results. Now I have time to carve the restoration and achieve a tight contact with the adjacent tooth. SonicFill makes me look good!!!"
  • Dr. Ron Jackson
Finally, a practical, efficient technique for placing posterior composites in one, single, esthetic, bulk fill increment. SonicFill is a game changer.
  • Dr. Ara Nazarian
Sonicfill makes composite restorations easy, effective and efficient by utilizing a new technology. Now clinicians can bulk fill preparations without a concern of shrinkage or marginal discrepancy.
  • Dr. Chris Pescatore
Sonicfill makes direct resin restorations fun again. Bottom-line. The new patented resin technology enables the practitioner to place a posterior direct resin more quickly, efficiently, and profitably than traditional techniques. All without sacrificing quality.

Without a doubt, SonicFill is the best-handling posterior composite I've ever used.

With the introduction of Kerr/Kavo new Composite System - SonicFill - it has become significantly easier to be an "every day dentist" producing "high quality dentistry.

In terms of handling properties, in my eyes, SonicFill is the perfect restorative material for all mid-size posterior cavities due to the easy application protocol!

I have been using this new system for six months and I can really see that the primary advantage is the speed with which you can seal cavities. It is intended particularly for posterior restorations that require layer-by-layer deposition. The fluidity of the material coming out of the compule allows you to fill cavities with perfect adaptation to the walls; this has recently been confirmed by a study showing that the water-tightness achieved is equal to that of the best composites on the market. Another quality of this material is the variation in viscosity as you go along, which facilitates pre-contouring and so leads to greater economy of product. I also use it in micro-dentistry, because the system allows me to work very precisely and to place the material in very small "tunnel" cavities. On the other hand, it hardens quickly and you can complete the finishing quickly. For all indications this new technique brings quality and speed. So I'm very satisfied. - Originally published on Dentoscope

Everyone would like to have a device that allows us simple, quick and reproducible placement of composite without porosity (homogeneous consistency)… Now there is such a system, I have been using it since last September. It is practical for large-volume posterior restorations. Even if you need to verify the polymerization of larger thicknesses of the composite material than stated by the manufacturer, it presents a number of advantages over traditional placement methods. They are: particularly attractive ergonomics, economy of material, obtaining a controllable and always homogeneous consistency. This "variable viscosity" allows perfect application of the composite, which then becomes easy to contour. One might pose some questions about the investment in acquiring the system, the additional implementation, and the clinical experience concerning the qualities reported (less stress on interfaces?). In any case, I think I would be interested in this new method for sealing cavities with composite. We will need to follow the evolution of the system based on scientific and clinical evaluations. - Originally published on Dentoscope

The desire to improve the quality of direct restorations and the belief that, intellectually, you can't let technological innovations pass you by was why I adopted this system last August. I reserve it for direct restorations using composite resin, particularly for large-volume cavities. The primary advantage lies in the placement in the deepest parts of the cavity. The placement of deeper increments using ultrasonic methods definitely avoids gaps, that can lead to recurrent cavities and porosity that adversely affects the mechanical properties of restorations. The final shaping of the last layer remains identical to that of materials placed conventionally. The material isn't overly fluid after ultrasonic placement; you can still achieve satisfactory anatomical shaping. At the same time, it is difficult to place the material using layer-by-layer assembly, while taking into account the constraints of the material polymerization. I would like standardized capsules of the composite, but that's probably wishful thinking… my general feeling is still very positive, the system is interesting, needs to be further developed, the clinical experience should allow for greater appreciation of this innovation. - Originally published on Dentoscope

I used to use Compothixo, which allowed me to place, model and pre-contour my composites using vibrating instruments. For the last three months, the ability to work with fluidized composites has been even more satisfying. I use this tool about two or three times a day and among its major advantages, particularly when compared with traditional placement methods, are primarily the extreme ease of filling cavities and the precision handling. You are able to control the quantity of material and place it exactly where you want. It's simple and the quality of seals obtained appears to me to be greater than that of my restorations before I started using the system. I think it would be desirable to improve the connection of the cartridges to the hand-piece. For me, this new method for placing my composites has become indispensable and I can only recommend its use to all my colleagues. - Originally published on Dentoscope

It is the best material I ever used! It is so easy to work with it. The viscosity is optimal. I have never been working with a material I could apply faster than SonicFill System. The color and opacity of SonicFill System is so similar to the tooth enamel, that sometimes it is hard to notice what is the tooth and what is the filling. I am eager to wait for the impact of the long term results. Thank you for the possibility to work with such excellent material.
